Pac-Man Game Summary:

Pac-Man Tips & Tricks – The Basics

Pac-Man is a all time classic game which needs no introduction. This is undoubtedly the single game that impressed the most excitement into arcade video games during our childhood, and now Pac-Man came back to stay in its PC format. Today I'm going to share with you some basic tips and tricks so that you can get the most fun out of this addictive free arcade game.

Knowing the Playing Field

If you know well your playing field or maze as it is called in Pac-Man you can gain some advantages that despite being little, can mean the difference between life and death.
The Power Pellets: These are the biggest dots in the maze (red circles in next screen capture). They give our character the capability to eat the ghosts for a short period of time thus earning extra points. As you can see, eaten ghost's eyes (red square in next screen capture) return to their pen located in the center of the maze, once there they'll regenerate and go back into Pac-Man's chase no matters if the other ghosts are still blue.

The Tunnel: Indicated by the red arrows in next screen capture, allows Pac-Man to mysteriously travel at normal speed from one side of the maze to the opposite, but not only Pac-Man but also his enemies the ghosts whose speed gets reduced to half. Thus giving Pac-Man a nice advantage in order to put some distance between him and his chasers, just be careful and give a quick glimpse to the other end for entering ghost so not to get caught in the middle.

The Bonuses: In the first stages these are fruit shaped, becoming different items as you advance to higher levels. They are placed below the ghost pen twice per round, when Pac-Man eats the first 70 dots, and secondly when eaten 170 dots. Though they can mean a higher score, it is wise to advice you that you should not try to eat them if ghosts are too close.

Ghost Patrolling Pattern: Starting the round for the first time, the ghosts move to their respective corner in order to patrol the area until they all decide to pursue Pac-Man. After chasing him during a moment, they will stop the hunt and come back to their corner for a short time. The area each gost patrols is shown on the maze by his respective color.

Blind Corridors: These corridors marked red on the next screen capture have a special characteristic for ghosts movements, they can go down, but not up. For example, if you find Pac-Man being pursued around or towards the ghost pen, and you go up any of these red lines the ghosts will have to irremediably stop chasing you. But be careful because they can still trap to you from the other direction.
