Sudoku Challenge Trivia:
Under the name of "Suji wa dokushin ni kagiru" (the digits must be single), the puzzle was introduced in Japan by the publisher Nikoli and later abbreviated to Sudoku.
 Despite being definitely an American invention, Sudoku got to British newspaper The Times on 2004 introduced by Wayne Gould, a retired HongKong judge.
The Sudoku puzzle is likely to be based on the concept of Latin Squares.
Howard Garns, an Indianapolis architect added some rules to Latin Squares thus creating Number Place, the puzzle nowadays known as Sudoku.
Sadly Garns died before seeing his anonymous creation to become an international phenomenon through 2005, when it was printed by The Times of London.
Starting about 1979, the "Number Place" puzzle (first known examples of Sudoku) has been published by Dell Magazines for over 25 years until today.
