Hyperballoid 2 Trivia:
In 1975 Steve Jobs (who was Atari $5 an hour technician employee at Los Gatos facility) was assigned to design a "Breakout" prototype for $700 and a $100 bonus per chip he could suppress from the original design.
Steve Jobs(left) invited his friend Steve Wozniak(right) who after a 4-day non-sleep managed to remove 50 chips from the original design of the "Breakout" prototype resulting in a $5,000 bonus which Jobs kept secret paying Wozniak only $350.
"Breakout" influences were really wide, being inspiration for not only countless video games in several platforms and even mobile versions, but also books, records, and most importantly Steve Wozniak's design for the Apple II computer.
Wozniak design for "Breakout" was finally not used by Atari because it was difficult to manufacture, however in Wozniak's own words: "maybe some engineer there was trying to make some kind of modification to it".
The original "Breakout" game was developed and introduced by Atari, Inc in 1976 inspired by 1972's "Pong"
"Breakout" was conceptualized by Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristow, basing themselves on the idea of turning "Pong" into a single player game.
